Once installed, the site opens without an address bar, with its own icon on your screen — just like a regular app. This is never required: the site works just as well in the browser.

Android

These steps are for Chrome. Using Samsung Internet, Edge or Opera? You'll find a similar option there, usually also via the three-dot menu or the share menu. Firefox does not always support this well.

  1. Open tweedekker1916.eu in Chrome.
  2. Chrome often shows a banner at the bottom with “Add app” or “Install”. Tap it and skip step 3.
  3. Don't see that banner? Tap the three dots (⋮) in the top right and choose “Install app” (sometimes “Add to Home screen”).
  4. Confirm with “Install”.
  5. The icon now sits on your home screen.

iPhone

These steps are for Safari — this does not work in Chrome or any other browser on the iPhone.

  1. Open tweedekker1916.eu in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share icon at the bottom (the square with an arrow pointing up).
  3. Scroll down in the menu and tap “Add to Home Screen”.
  4. You can still adjust the name. Then tap “Add” in the top right.
  5. The icon now sits on your home screen.
